First stop New York City

Pat on Montague St. in Brooklyn

First stop New York City, Pat came in for five days and we were able to see quite a bit of Brooklyn, and ate at a wonderful restaurant in the area Armando's. The rest of the food was in neighborhood restaurtans, good and reasonably priced for city standards. Biggest news was the weather, cold and snow. Dan is off and running around New York on his consulting job, and Pat was able to find plenty to do with in the city. Dan had lunch with his cousin John, and we both met Pat's cousin Rick Raker and Nancy at Armando's.  Pat loved Armando's especially the lasaagna. More to come in the future, hopefully without so much snow.

Here is today's big news---the NYC school system is shut down for the first time since 1976.  Dan and all the other consultants have a little more free time, since their task is to visit schools.   we'll figure out something, i was going to go to the big stores in Manhattan, so Dan can tag along.
Pat went to the Museum of Arts and design, and loved it. For one thing, it's small, you can see everything easily.  Had alot of African art, also things like fashion, hats, hairdo's, etc.  They had all this artsy dinnerware.  Also, jewelry, but weird stuff.  They had videos all over of  just different things.  a very cool gift shop, but high prices.  I really liked this museum.

Pat spent another day shopping around NY. She took the subway to Fifth Ave., to shop at the glam shops.  I bought a cute watch and had a 5 minute facial at Henri Bendel's--look that up if you haven't heard of it, it is pretty elegant, although the watch was cheap and the facial was free.   Dan was so tolerant, i couldn't believe it. It got very treacherous to walk across the streets.  It was very icy and slushy, and we'd have to practically go in single file.   My feet got wet, and Dan's back started hurting, so we'd had enough.
Came back here then ate at this Ale House near us.  It is a new place where they already knew Dan, and they were very friendly.  Food was good, not great.   what's cool here is there are so many neighborhoods, so the shop owners know their customers.
