Drove to Reno today. Really enjoy the drive from SLC to Reno, very
interesting part of the country. The Bonneville Salt Flats as just
that--flat and salt! Utterly desolate, except for the traffic, but
nothing built on them. Easy to see mirages because they are so flat,
and you can see for miles. But you see.....nothing!
Stopped
in Elko for lunch, and discovered our favorite place, The Coffee Cup,
was taken over by a Dennys! We were sad, it was a great place--great
food and atmosphere. Oh well, it is still a very cool town.
Got
to Reno early evening, and stayed at The Peppermill. It was mobbed
there, and we had to change rooms since our first room was a smokers
room and floor, plus i noticed there was going to be a party across the
way. I took care of it all because Dan was downstairs at the sports
bar watching Michigan play in the NCAA Sweet 16. We put bets,
respectively, on Michigan and Michigan State. I came down later, found
him on a video poker machine watching the game and drinking. I put
some money in the machine next to his, and got a few martini (or two).
Had a great corned beef sandwich from the deli while watching the
game. O.K., i am NOT a Michigan fan, but it was a great win and fun to
be there, with everyone shouting. They weren't only shouting for
Michigan, but for the other games that were on everywhere at the sports
bar. Really fun to be there for that.
i
then went upstairs, started watching the MSU game, which did not have
the same exciting ending, in fact, they lost. I was sleepy from the
martini, and even though it was 7:30, i decided to take a 10 minute nap.
Well, yeah, you can guess---i didn't get up til morning!
