Last day in Germany, we didn't occupy Frankfurt

We made it to the airport, and checked into the hotel. After a couple of hours in this space station like structure, we decided we had to get back out into the real world.

The German equivalent of occupy Frankfurt is now going on. As Pat said "therefore WE can not occupy Frankfurt". From what we can gather, there are about 200 protestors, and 5,000 police. Train stations are closed and it is chaotic. Hotel staff strongly recommended that we not go there, even when we said we might want to join the occupation. As tempting as it was to get into the festivities, we decided instead to go to Wiesbaden, which is in the opposite direction of Frankfurt. It was a good decision. It's a nice middle class town, that was hopping on a Friday night. Simultaneous gatherings were going on in squares near each other. The first was an antique car show. The second a Ramadan celebration, complete with a man dressed as a clown singing songs for kids in Arabic. We decided to continue the multi cultural theme, and ate in a Vietnamese/Thai restaurant. It was nice to not have any part of a pig in the meal, and it was very good Thai food. The train ride back and forth was very efficient and very comfortable. Apparently they use the honor system in Germany, no one checked our tickets either way.  It was a nice evening, now we are back in the airport/train station/shopping center/hotel. Tomorrow the trip ends and we head back to the USA.
