es ist alles Mozart and Sacher Torte in Salzburg

Mozart,  Mozart's father, Mozart's son and even his sister. The hills are alive with the sound of Mozart. Though he lived half of his life elsewhere, and he hated it here, Salzburg doesn't care. They love him here. There is a Mozart Museum, a Mozart house, a Statue of him, and music everywhere. We did here some of his music played on one of his pianos in one of his houses, and it was spectacular. Mozart was quite the guy, and if you know nothing about him, you should at least read his biography.

We started the day with a walk to the Old Town, where we bought a Salzburg pass, which allowed us free admission to museums and discounts in stores. We took the Funicular up to the Hohensalzburg castle, yes another castle, and not our last one I'm sure.  In fact tomorrow we plan a bike ride to another castle.

More walking, more Mozart, more castles, some soup, some weiner schnitzel and some chicken, more wine and some beer and we are ready for sleep. Mountain air is very refreshing.
Dan

Dan summed it up pretty well!  Really, this is a charming town.  Clean, sparkling, easy to get around, with music everywhere.   We are very glad we came, decided to spend another day.  I loved hearing the Mozart at his house on his own piano, a highlight for me.
